Melony Hill, born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, l has made it her mission to curate safe spaces to have hard conversations, especially in urban and other under-served communities. Recognized as a survivor many times over, harnessing her drive and tenacity for strength in the face of adversity, Melony has become a role model for others who feel that life’s circumstances knocked them out of the game.
In 2017, she founded Stronger Than My Struggles, a mission-based organization with a focus on mental health and wellness in the Black community. Since, she has published multiple books, helping various other survivors share their own stories as well as creating various training programs, such as Writing for My Sanity which ran for 6 years in Baltimore and abroad.
Melony has won multiple awards for her work in helping survivors break free of stigma, stereotype, and shame. She’s received citations from both Baltimore’s former Mayor, Bernard “Jack” Young as well as current mayor, Brandon Scott. Melony is a brand ambassador, volunteer and peer led program facilitator with Nami’s Baltimore Metropolitan branch.
